Fall Skincare Transition

As the leaves change, your skincare should too. The drop in temperature and humidity means your summer routine needs adjustments. Here are 7 changes to make this fall.

1. Switch to a Richer Moisturizer

Your lightweight summer gel won't cut it in fall. Switch to a richer cream-based moisturizer to combat dry air. Look for ceramides and shea butter for extra barrier protection.

2. Add a Hydrating Serum

Layer a hyaluronic acid serum under your moisturizer for an extra hydration boost. Apply it to slightly damp skin after cleansing to lock in moisture.

3. Don't Ditch the SPF

UV rays don't take a break in fall. In fact, UVA rays (which cause aging) are consistent year-round. Keep applying SPF 30+ every morning without exception.

4. Exfoliate Less Frequently

Your skin is more sensitive in cooler weather. Reduce exfoliation from 2-3 times per week to once a week. Use gentle chemical exfoliants (lactic acid) instead of physical scrubs.

5. Start Using Retinol

Fall is the perfect time to introduce retinol. Less sun exposure means less risk of irritation. Start with a low concentration 2-3 nights per week and always use sunscreen during the day.

6. Use a Humidifier

Indoor heating strips moisture from the air and your skin. A bedside humidifier set to 40-50% humidity makes a visible difference in how your skin looks and feels.

7. Don't Forget Your Lips and Hands

These areas dry out fastest in fall. Keep a nourishing lip balm and hand cream in your bag. Apply throughout the day, especially after washing your hands.
