The Complete Fragrance Guide

Fragrance is the invisible accessory — it completes an outfit, sets a mood, and creates memories. Understanding how fragrances work helps you choose and wear them like a pro. Here's our comprehensive guide.

Fragrance Families Explained

All fragrances fall into families: Floral (rose, jasmine, lily), Oriental (amber, spice, vanilla), Woody (sandalwood, cedar, vetiver), and Fresh (citrus, green, aquatic). EVA by Marcia blends floral and oriental notes for a sophisticated, warm, feminine character.

The Three Note Layers

Top notes (first 15 minutes): The opening impression — usually light citrus or fresh florals. Heart notes (15 minutes to 1 hour): The core character — richer florals, spices. Base notes (1+ hours): The lasting impression — warm amber, musk, woods. A great fragrance is beautiful at all three stages.

Concentration Matters

Eau de Parfum (EDP) has 15-20% fragrance oil concentration — lasts 6-8 hours. Eau de Toilette (EDT) has 5-15% — lasts 3-5 hours. EVA by Marcia is an EDP, giving you all-day longevity. Higher concentration means more projection and staying power.

Where to Apply for Maximum Longevity

Pulse points: wrists, neck, behind ears, inside elbows, behind knees. These warm areas diffuse fragrance throughout the day. For a softer aura, spray into the air and walk through it. Never rub your wrists together — it crushes the molecules and shortens longevity.

Storing Your Fragrance

Keep away from sunlight, heat, and humidity. Store in a cool, dark drawer or cabinet — not your bathroom. EVA by Marcia stays fresh for 3-5 years when stored properly. Keep the bottle upright and tightly closed to prevent oxidation.

Making Fragrance Last Longer

Layer matching scented body wash and lotion under your perfume. Apply to moisturized skin — fragrance clings to hydrated skin longer. A light dab of Vaseline on pulse points before spraying creates a barrier that slows evaporation. Reapply at the 4-hour mark for all-day presence.
